A Little Bit About Me

01/12/20
Hi there!
My name is Alexis and I'm a third year marketing major at Oregon State University.

A quick view into my life: I'm currently in my early twenties and  trying to improve and learn more about myself daily. Trying to figure out who you are and what you want to do with your life isn't as simple as I once thought. I'm learning that it's okay to be lost, no matter what point of your life you're in, just as long as you keep the idea of "giving it the good ole college try" in tact!

To continue, self improvement and introspection are vital to me. Thus, I enjoy yoga, meditation, and my solitude and take that time for myself seriously. Being active and eating healthy are also high on my list of priorities. You're responsible for your own health and happiness.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, watching Grey's Anatomy/The Office/Friends, doing yoga and being active in general, spending time with friends and family, cooking, listening to inspiring/motivation talks/podcasts and having a cup of coffee or a glass of wine with my mom while catching up over FaceTime.

This term is looking like a bit of a doozy with seventeen credits and working part-time, but I'm excited about all of my classes! However maybe a little less about BA213 Managerial Accounting, but it's all about the mindset; right? For BA223, I'm looking forward to our hands-on project(s). I'm nervous, but the experience will be all worth it.

What prompted me to enroll in this class was that it's on my list of requirements for graduation and it sounded like a beneficial class to take!

A fun tidbit about myself: I used to be a competitive ballroom dancer! In my first season, I joined my team late and with some luck, was able to snatch a partner that was willing to practice five-six days a week with me and learn six routines in chacha, rumba, swing, waltz, tango, foxtrot. With hours on hours in the studio, we were able to place two 1st, two 2nd, and two 3rd. Flash forward to my last season, with a new partner I competed in American and International chacha, samba (my favorite), rumba, waltz, tango, foxtrot, Viennese waltz, waltz, and a couple more and we traveled to compete in Portland, San Diego, Las Vegas, and Chicago.

During the aforementioned season, I had joined the formation team. This team was compiled of eight couples. We did an eight minute smooth melody to Evita with four styles: tango, Viennese waltz, foxtrot, and quickstep. In a formation performance, you must all move in sync and hit angles to create shapes/lines/etc. perfectly (at least that's the goal).

Our formation team competed in each of the locations mentioned above and took first place at all. Chicago was the most thrilling to win as it was Nationals! First in the national, whoop-whoop!
